Comentario: Campus Life Association?

Why don't we have a Campus Life Association at our university? So disappointing!

I consider that higher education should not be limited to the Academic area. Passive students become Passive Professionals. Passive professionals is just a synonym for mediocre professionals. I found out that an educational speech now a days only includes a long list of terms that nobody is going to ever remember them all (At least, I won’t). Potential, that’s what we are wasting in here. Haven’t we been encouraged to be purposeful and active students for a while? Yes, right? How high are we raising the bar when we are getting satisfied with 1 hour and 50 minutes class (max. three classes a day)? (Including myself)

We, as students love to criticize the system, but aren’t we feeding it with our passiveness and lack of proactivity? We love to dream about those developed countries and how would it be like to be one of them or have what they have, but are we working as hard as they are? I think we should stand up for ourselves. How many clubs, organizations, associations, (at least groups) are we involved? My answer is none. Yours? By the way, again, do we have any?

One of my friends once told something as a joke, but now that I see it clearly, it has a deeper meaning, “Tie the Tie”, that’s what we have been taught (and I don’t mean it literally)…. Just to tie a tie for scenarios and environments (To pretend we know) It goes from a mostly boring class expo scenario (we “Tie the Tie”) to work in an office, do paper-work, and again we just tie the tie. Comment: Ties are cool, but they don’t make us professionals. Anyway, my point is that Student Activities should be an integral element of Student Life. Employers also look for our Leadership skills. Are we working on that? We should start using our time, energy and creativity to contribute to the wide assortment of things to start doing on campus and to our own education process. Let’s be a real student. Let’s work on a personal growth and education outside of the classroom. Iniciemos a aprender a conocer, Aprender a ser, Aprender a hacer, Aprender a convivir.
